Hi Guys!
Did everyone like the new paintings? I have 4.5 more done
You'll pardon me if im not around much for the next month or so [haha, you know i lurk on here anyway]
You see, I've got an opurtunity I really cant refuse- One of my neighbours works for a local arts foundation and they are putting on a contemporary art fair in early feb. 2010 and the theme of the upcoming show is "Sex & Politics" its a fairly new show, this will be it's second year but from what I've read in the local paper its quite different then the local 'scene' and quite well recived. Part of the first show's proceeds went to help "Doctors without Borders" and victims of the local wildfires.
Deadlines for entries is 30 [us] dollars and they'd like to see 3 pieces for consideration.
Here is the submission form if anyone is interested, and yes! they take international artists rumbleart.com/submissions.html
Now im not much for sex [unless you count the classic pinnup girls painted on aerolanes ] or politics [Vote Cthullu, The Evil You Know!] so I was really stumped to come up with something so I got to thinkng about what combines them both- and then... who. SO I've decided [and have ben working on these past few days] on masks, one of Elizabeth 1 of England, and one of Hashepsut of Egypt. [I am considering a third but due to time constraints am not sure about it]
I know I havent put much about my masks on the site- I only actually finished two and one [a Crow-mask, the bird, not the comic] was traded away some years ago. They will mee mixed media- acrylics, papier mache, found objects and an awful lot of yarn! I'll post pictures when they're done. Im not sure if that really falls under "Contemporary" but its fun and for me thays what matters most, even if i dont get in the show.

Squitty nommed my hair this morning, which was both amusing and odd.
The ants are in the corn again and 3 more stalks fell over- one cob has gone mutant and is sprouting tendrils of kernels, and looks really wierd.
Went out on the town on thursday, thumbed a lift from the Art-Foundation girl as not only did her boss have a showing but it was Art Night downtown. Here is a youtube of them setting it up. I quite like the green& gold berber head. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BOh6t…
We met some more girls from the foundation and visited several other galleries- highschool based on a book, local water colours, local prinkmakers[many featuring solar ink] a gallery of mixed [I was quite taken with the oryx clar jar and a plastic landscape. We saw one of the "official" exhibits, a 9? foot ball people were rolling around, [there were two more we missed, a "Galaxies on sticks" glowy thing I would have liked to see, and some sort of burning man-esque on fire.] there was also a man painting a giant baloon [We saw im setting up] I got to hold the Puppy [^____^<3<3] as we left the art girls raided the local apple-mac store[I didnt know there was such places] and shamelessly put the artfair site as homepage
My subbie ran out and I'd like to say a last big "THANK YOU" for everyone that pitched for them, I am very appreciative and had much fun playing with them! <3<3<3

SQUITTY!!! More Artz and Pirate Day
SQUEEKY-CAT IS HOME!!
My roomate heard a noise out back around 310am 3 nights back & opened the kitchen door to look and ZOOM! next thing we know Squitty was in the house, in the living room looking at me & wondering where the catbowl was. :D Next thing she did was try & sit on the keyboard, so ive got a stockpile of youtube movies i can watch so she can sit on me because typing around catbum is a little awkward. :D Over 2 weeks she was gone & all the neighbours had thought she was coyote chow long ago but didnt want to dash my hopes by saying anything :) [The first neighbour told all the others so there is much amused relif around the bloc
Squeeky-Cat is Missing :(
Squitty wanders when the weather is warm and she's been gone for about 10 days now.
I put food out but im not sure shes the one eating it. I keep calling for her but if shes out of hearing distance that wont do any good.
I've asked the neighbours to keep an eye out for her but none of them have seen her recently. Shes not wearing her collar either- the last time i put it on her she came back with it draped over her shoulder and i got paranoid about her choking and took it off.
My roomates think im being silly to worry so and keep telling me that she'll probably come back when the weather cools off- but that could be weeks yet! and i don't
Happy Canada Day!!
