Did everyone like the new paintings? I have 4.5 more done
You see, I've got an opurtunity I really cant refuse- One of my neighbours works for a local arts foundation and they are putting on a contemporary art fair in early feb. 2010 and the theme of the upcoming show is "Sex & Politics" its a fairly new show, this will be it's second year but from what I've read in the local paper its quite different then the local 'scene' and quite well recived. Part of the first show's proceeds went to help "Doctors without Borders" and victims of the local wildfires.
Deadlines for entries is 30 [us] dollars and they'd like to see 3 pieces for consideration.
Here is the submission form if anyone is interested, and yes! they take international artists
I know I havent put much about my masks on the site- I only actually finished two and one [a Crow-mask, the bird, not the comic] was traded away some years ago. They will mee mixed media- acrylics, papier mache, found objects and an awful lot of yarn! I'll post pictures when they're done. Im not sure if that really falls under "Contemporary" but its fun and for me thays what matters most, even if i dont get in the show.
We met some more girls from the foundation and visited several other galleries- highschool based on a book, local water colours, local prinkmakers[many featuring solar ink] a gallery of mixed [I was quite taken with the oryx clar jar and a plastic landscape. We saw one of the "official" exhibits, a 9? foot ball people were rolling around, [there were two more we missed, a "Galaxies on sticks" glowy thing I would have liked to see, and some sort of burning man-esque on fire.] there was also a man painting a giant baloon [We saw im setting up] I got to hold the Puppy [^____^<3<3] as we left the art girls raided the local apple-mac store[I didnt know there was such places] and shamelessly put the artfair site as homepage
